The Works of Art That Caught My Attention

2014-01-15 14.16.03

Can you see the reinterpretation of traditions across cultures in Asia in these pieces at Pearl Lam Galleries?

Following are a few of the art works that caught my eye. Art to me is abstract and only a handful are able to appreciate. But at this fair ground, I’ve found fascinating works that I could identify with, a few of them would appeal to kids and are new presentations I’ve never thought I’d ever see in this life. What is shown here is nothing compared to looking at the pieces at the fairground. Hope you are able to find a few that you love at this Art Stage 2014.

This Advertising Van Glass Globe by Japanese artist Michiko Isono is a collation of photographs she's taken of signages around major stations in Tokyo, Japan. Strangely the embedded pictures in the globe remind me of the lucky marbles my childhood friends and I used to play with.

Decor Ideas Gleaned from the Art Stage Singapore 2014

Among the works by Korean artists, this one shows how wonderful a wall decorated by smaller pieces of repeat patterns or art pieced together

Among the works by #Korean artists, for me Untitled, 2009 by Myung Ok-Han from Wooson Gallery shows how wonderful a wall can look, decorated by smaller pieces of repeat patterns or art pieced together

A beautiful and elaborate piece of freestanding lamp like this can work as a piece of art for the home or office.

Designer Lamp from Xtra Living Singapore

The art work of a lamp on a sky blue nightstand by emerging and established artists caught my eye with its bright colours and unique aesthetics.

The art work by Joanna Lamb of a brightly lit floor lamp behind an armchair at Sullivan+Strumpf would make an interesting wall art and centrepiece in any home. This is available at a hefty AUD10,000 (approximately S$11,190) to AUD15,000.
