March is the time to be inspired by design. From March 7-13 the annual SingaPlural 2016 fair be at 99 Beach Road, and on March 13 the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) 2016 and Décor Fair at the Singapore Expo, will be open to public. Business owners who are keen to visit the IFFS 2016, should register and visit the trade show on March 10-12, 2016.

The SingaPlural launch was held at The East Bureau Modern Pan Asian Restaurant & Bar

This year, SingaPlural will be celebrating its 5th anniversary with the theme, ‘Senses – The art and science of experiences’. With this theme, SingaPlural seeks to enhance our daily experiences through new perspectives in design that teases and tantalises the sense with sight, sound, scent, texture and taste with colour and creativity.

Leveraging on our island’s new status as UNESCO Creative City of Design, vistors will find 71 installations by designers, manufacturers, builders and design schools. This is a huge increase of at least 30% compared to previous years. Take for example, Project X, the flagship programme of SingaPlural features heavily on tactility with this year’s material, LG Hi-Macs, solid surfaces from Luxx Newhouse.” Says Jimmy Tong, President and Founder of Luxx Newhouse Group.

Joining SingaPlural for the first time, Mediacorp will be collaborating with IDCS (Interior Design Confederation (Singapore), SFIC (Singapore Furniture Industries Council) and SILA (Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects) on an installation that drives home the sustainability message and how it can be integrated into our lives. This installation brings new life to old, recycled studio props and sets.

PLUS Collaboratives and GOVT, a local team, curate the entire festival.

Some highlights of the event include:
NAFA’s 2014 top graduate, Celine Ng, will collaborate with XTRA and BOLON to present present Engulf, a beautiful visual interpretation of ethereal beauty of a breaking wave, observed underwater.

Award-winning designer Tan Eng Liang of Dickman of M!lk Inc, collaborates with ADMIRA to present Journey – a creative piece that evokes simultaneous emotions through a fusion of visual, sound and touch experiences.”

Poiesis Studio in collaboration with Panelogue, prompts visitors to slow down and engage their sense of smell by offering alternate experiential perspectives in the places we frequent, with A Breathe Respite by Poiesis Studio.

Lekker Architects’ Scope collaborates with EDL to reignite the simple child-like pleasure of a kaleidoscope through an architectural perspective.

Mediacorp collaborates with IDCS (Interior Design Confederation (Singapore), SFIC (Singapore Furniture Industries Council) and SILA (Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects) to present Doors, using recycled Mediacorp production set props. This installation, allows visitors to explore the maze of openings that will tease their five senses.

SingaPlural’s annual flagship, Project X, is presented by Luxx Newhouse in collaboration with four local design studios – Park + Associates, Studio Juju, Voidworks and Weekend Worker. Project X will reveal how solid surface materials can be used creatively for a range of products and solutions for urban lifestyles.

SingaPlural 2016, organised by the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), is the annual anchor event for the Singapore Design Week (SDW). And SDW has always garnered strong support and participation from the local design and business community. SingaPlural is held in conjunction with International Furniture Fair Singapore 2016, ASEAN

Furniture Show, The Décor Show and furniPRO Asia. It is also the anchor event of the Singapore Design Week, which is organised by the DesignSingapore Council, a part of the Ministry of Communications and Information.

IFFS is the region’s leading event for trade professionals of furniture, interior design, and furnishing industries all over the world to source for the latest products. This year, #furniPRO Asia will be co-located with IFFS, along with The Décor Show.
